We visit the Berg River Canoe Marathon

The 52nd annual Berg River Canoe Marathon, a 240 km race from Paarl to Velddrif, in the Western Cape, took place over a period of 4 days.

Day One was from Paarl to Sonkwasdrif(between Wellington and Gouda) = 62,1 km

Day Two from Sonkwasdrif to Bridgetown(between Gouda and Piketberg) = 45,7 km

Day Three from Bridgetown to Soutkloof(Piketberg to Velddrif) = 74,8 km

Day Four (Saturday – 13 July 2013) from Soutkloof to Velddrif = 58,7 km

150 Competitors took part in the race.  This includes 8 women.  The race was won by Lance King and the first female across the finish line was Jenna Ward.

The spectators could also enjoy strolling around at the Carnival browsing at a variety of arts & craft stalls.  For the Veteran Lovers their were some unique Classic Cars on display…
